"3 years ago we added an outdoor living room and kitchen to our house. The result was very beautiful, but the process was painful. We hired a general contractor who took on the project as a side job. His company specializes in multi-million new residential construction in the Indian Hill area. As such, all the contractors he deals with typically do huge jobs not $100,000 home extensions. We got top quality workmanship, but because we were a side job for all the contractors we did not get top priority from a timing standpoint. We were hoping to open the room with a Labor Day party, it was not done until Christmas time.  Also, the job also exceeded the planned budget by 20%. It was a frustrating experience.
